Setanta Sports, the leading international pay
television broadcaster and Servecast, Europe's
premier provider of new media sportscasting, have
teamed up to broadcast live Six Nations Rugby
coverage over broadband on a Pay-Per-View basis
for the US, Australian, Canadian and Carribean
markets. This is the first time ex-patriots and
rugby fans in these countries will have access
to such a service. Fans with a broadband internet
connection will be able to view the games live
through Setanta's website www.setanta.com.
Setanta's recently launched broadband service
offers a host of top sporting events live over
the Internet to subscribers. Servecast's unrivalled
experience in webcasting major sporting events
ensures a high quality and engaging viewing experience
over Setanta's new broadband service.
Operating on Servecast's Media Studio platform,
Setanta will offer a broadband Pay - Per - View
service providing US, Australian, Canadian and
Carribean rugby fans with exclusive live Six Nations
Rugby coverage. Online viewers in these markets
will have access to full live video and audio
coverage of all fifteen games in the 2006 Six
Nations Championship.
A major advantage of this broadband service offered
by Setanta and Servecast is that it provides the
fan with full control of the viewing experience,
unlike anything ever available on terrestrial
television.Servecast's streaming solutions allows
fans to log-in wherever they desire and viewers
can have the ability to instantly replay a key
sequence, skipping forward as a kicker prepares
to take a penalty kick or pausing the action whenever
refreshment is required.
Speaking today, Darach Deehan, CEO of Servecast
said 'This is the first time Rugby fans in the
US, Australia, Canada and the Carribean will have
access to the Six Nations on a live or delayed
basis over the Internet. It is clear that as broadband
penetration grows rapidly, the Internet is becoming
increasingly important as a delivery platform
for sports content to fans all over the world.
Setanta's choice of our Media Studio delivery
platform for such a high profile sporting event
further cements Servecast's position at the top
of New Media sportscasting'.
Also speaking today, Leonard Ryan, Joint CEO of
Setanta Sports stated 'Setanta Sports is proud
to enable rugby fans from as far apart as the
US and Australia to view and enjoy the Six Nations
Ruby Championship through our broadband service
and also to promote European rugby to a global
audience. The attraction of this new service for
fans outside of Europe is that it allows them
to view high quality broadband coverage of the
Six Nations whenever and wherever they want. Also
for Setanta, it enables us to reach a wider audience
and generate new and profitable revenue streams
from broadband content.'
