Servecast, the leading supplier of new media
sportscasting solutions today announced yet another
broadband subscription streaming service for a
Premiership football club, West Ham United. The
service, West Ham United TV (WHUTV), which went
live in August and will show a live webcast of
this weeks UEFA Cup game against Palermo,
is another in a spate of recent Servecast announcements
regarding the delivery of broadband subscription
services for FA Premiership football clubs. Servecast
also recently provided a series of live broadband
video coverage of preseason friendly matches for
Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Servecast has secured an exclusive five year
contract to provide broadband streaming for West
Ham United which will see the provision of a top
class broadband subscription audio and video service
called WHUTV for all Hammers fans. This week WHUTV
will webcast live their UEFA Cup game versus Palermo
on Thursday. This exclusive webcast is geo-targeted
and therefore available outside of the UK, Northern
Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
WHUTV will offer live and archive match coverage,
highlights and behind the scenes coverage and
is available to subscribers on monthly basis for
£4.99 or annually for £44.99. Servecast
will deliver sophisticated online live video and
audio for matches and on-demand content for archive
viewing. To protect the terms of rights deals,
Servecast will implement its digital rights management
and geo-blocking solution to prevent viewers in
unauthenticated regions from viewing live match
coverage online. The entire broadband viewing
and subscription platform is set up by Servecast.
This includes the creation of a West Ham branded
viewing console and microsite, the creation of
a payment interface and the set up of security
systems.
West Ham will be provided with a content management
tool for seamless and quick content & video
updates as well as a sophisticated reporting tool
which provides online access to detailed usage
statistics. As prevention against service corruption,
West Ham United will have access to an e-mail
customer support service as well as Servecasts
Intelli-help system which provides end users with
a high quality experience.
Speaking today, Scott Duxbury, Commercial Director
of West Ham United said With the growing
penetration of broadband, people want more services
and more content available online and they are
willing to pay for it. Moreover, with a fan base
spread around the globe, our broadband service
enables us to reach geographically dispersed fans
of West Ham United and provide them with a sophisticated
and flexible viewing environment. Servecast's
pedigree in live and on demand video streaming
as well as their ability to provide us with the
optimum business model for our broadband service
makes them the perfect partner for our broadband
service."
Also speaking today Darach Deehan, CEO of Servecast
stated All sports organisations and clubs
including the Premiership clubs are recognising
broadband video as a serious fan expectation and
they are also realizing the real potential to
grow revenues from broadband video services. We
are delighted to work with West Ham United to
help the club to develop, enhance and grow its
broadband video subscription service as an integral
part of the clubs commercial strategy moving
forward.
