The broadband service of the Rugby Superleague
powered by Servecast's advanced Media Studio platform
went live on June 8th. Called 'Superleague TV',
the broadband service offers live and on demand
coverage of the entire engage Rugby Superleague
on a pay per view and subscription basis. It is
available via the official website, www.engagesuperleague.co.uk
Servecast, the leading specialist supplier of
new media sportscasting, has agreed a 3 year contract
with The Rugby Football League to manage the streaming
service and delivery platform for 'Superleague
TV' which went live on June 8th. As part of the
broadband service, two games per week will be
available live via the engage Superleague website
for international viewers subscribers and highlights
of all games will also be available on demand
immediately afterwards on the site for the duration
of the contract. The rugby matches are available
live over broadband to all non UK, French, Middle
East and Australasian territories. A total of
62 games, approximately, including the play off
matches and Grand Final will be streamed live
over the Superleague website each season. Ten
minute highlights will also be available after
a 24 hour delay from the end of each match. Live
coverage of each of the seven Tri Nations matches
will also be available. These matches will be
included in the pay per view and subscription
package.
The Servecast solution for the engage Super League
includes delivery of live and on demand video
& audio commentaries and the entire design
& set up of the complete subscription and
delivery platform for the broadband service. Servecast's
sophisticated Digital Rights Management will also
be applied to all archive content and will ensure
end users can securely download video clips.
Servecast are also managing the billing and security
for the site including set up of online payment
interface, a tailored revenue tracking system
and subscriber database.
As part of the service, Servecast is also providing
regular reporting at the end of each month including
content usage, user analysis, geographic location,
sales and revenue related to the pay-per-view
and subscription sales.
