Servecast, Europe's leading provider of advanced
broadband video solutions to the football industry
yesterday attended the 3rd annual Soccerex London
Forum which was held in the Wembley Stadium in
London. The Soccerex London Forum is a cutting-edge
one-day networking event with over 250 football
clubs, 50 leagues and federations and 100 media
agencies were present at the event.
Running in tandem with the Soccerex Forum was
an exclusive Microsoft event for sport & leisure
technology providers. Called the 'Microsoft Box',
Microsoft sport & technology partners including
Servecast, presented in this exclusive enclosed
area attended by football clubs and media agencies.
Derek Gough, Senior Technical Consultant at Servecast
delivered a comprehensive presentation describing
the important role that broadband video solutions
play in the current and future communications
of all football clubs. He elaborated on Servecast's
in-depth experience with major European football
clubs such as Liverpool FC, Manchester United
FC, Chelsea FC, Arsenal FC and presented details
on the newly launched Barça TV Online,
which Servecast have developed for FC Barcelona.
Addressing the Microsoft Box attendees at the
Soccerex Forum, Derek said "It is imperative
that football clubs cease the broadband video
market in Europe and beyond as a growing content
opportunity. With online content reaching €8.3bn
by 2010 in Europe and consumer spending on internet
video streams and movie downloads to increase
by forty times to about $4.1bn by 2011, the online
medium for TV content cannot be ignored. All sports
content providers must adapt to the changing lifestyles
and viewing habits of their audience. Consumers
demand to be able to watch their favourite sport
at home or on the move, on the device and at the
time of their choosing. Moreover, a broadband
video service presents opportunities to generate
additional revenues from sports rights."
Derek also described the features and functionality
of the Servecast Media Studio platform for broadband
video streaming and how this industry-leading
solution helps to bring together sport, media
and technology to provide not just a broadband
video solution but a proven, successful business
solution.
