Servecast and leading Irish broadcaster TG4 today
announced the launch of the TV station's new simulcast
broadband service as it marks its 10th birthday.
Servecast is the leading provider of advanced
streaming solutions to the sports and media sectors
and has been the streaming media partner for TG4,
the Irish national television channel, for the
last 4 years. There will be a host of valuable
content webcast over the service and this weekend
sees live coverage of the second test of the Women's'
International Rules Match between Ireland and
Australia made available to international online
viewers.
Servecast commenced the Simulcast service for
TG4 for a trial period during the summer during
which exclusive live broadband coverage for Wimbledon
and the Tour de France was implemented using Servecast's
advanced streaming media solution. Online viewers
in Ireland could follow the action from the top
tennis tournament and the most famous race in
cycling live via www.tg4.tv,
TG4's WebTV service.
Due to the success of the service, TG4 has officially
announced their broadband service as they mark
their 10th year in operation.
The simulcast over broadband of these sports events
of global status, combined with this official
launch of the Simulcast service is part of TG4's
long term strategy to increase significantly their
activities with regards to delivering Irish language
video and audio content to broadband internet
users both in Ireland and internationally. This
announcement is significant as it underpins the
progressive nature of the Irish language TV station
as it embraces new technology and communication
methods to reach its audience.
Servecast provides TG4 with support for live and
on-demand video & audio streaming and a geo-targeting
engine which allows TG4 to protect and maintain
its contracted content distribution agreements.
For example different levels of content may be
made available to either Irish or International
viewers. Also TG4 are supplied with Servecast's
advanced content management system which provides
TG4 with full editorial control over the look
and feel of the simulcast viewing console and
enables it to keep all its Web TV content fresh
and engaging.
