Sir John Rose
Chief Executive

John Rose joined Rolls-Royce plc in 1984 and was appointed to its Board of Directors in January 1992, becoming Chief Executive on 1 May 1996. He received a knighthood in the 2003 New Year's Honours List.

From 1989 until February 1994, John was Director of Corporate Development. He became Managing Director of the Aerospace Group on 1 January 1995. From February 1993 until assuming his Deputy Managing Director role, he was also President and Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce Inc, responsible for Rolls-Royce activities in North America. Previous Rolls-Royce plc posts included Corporate Treasurer.

Before joining Rolls-Royce, he had a career in banking with the First National Bank of Chicago and Security Pacific.

John is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a Past-President of the European Association of Aerospace Industries (AECMA), a Past-President of the Society of British Aerospace Companies and is on the Council of The Prince's Trust as Chairman of The Prince's Trust - Business.

Born in Blantyre, Malawi, John earned his MA degree in Psychology from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 1975.

John is married to Felicity and has two sons and a daughter. In his spare time he enjoys all sports, particularly scuba diving and skiing, and the arts. He is 49.
