Servecast, a leading specialist supplier of new
media sportscasting, has signed a three-year deal
with the RFL the governing body of Rugby
League in England - to create and host a pay-per-view
and subscription broadband video service, "Super
League TV", on the engage Super League competitions
official Web site www.engagesuperleague.co.uk
Two games per week will be available live on
the engage Super League Web site for International
viewers and will also be available on demand immediately
afterwards on the site for the duration of the
contract.
Servecast delivers advanced streaming media solutions
and has a strong pedigree in the delivery of high
quality and profitable streaming solutions for
the sports and media industry.
The Servecast Media Studio Platform is an end-to-end
solution offering live and on demand broadband
video services, payment & security solutions,
live audio commentaries, production of mobile
video and audio content; Web site hosting &
content management and integration with e-commerce
applications such as online merchandising.
The engage Super League matches will be available
live over broadband to all non UK and Australasian
territories.
In the UK, France and the Middle East the matches
will be available as archived, video-on-demand
content with a 24 hour delay. Ten-minute highlights
will also be available after a 24-hour delay from
the end of each match.
A total of 62 games approximately, including
the play off matches and Grand Final, will be
streamed live over the engage Super League website
each season.
Live coverage of each of the seven Tri-Nations
matches and the World Cup Challenge matches will
also be available. These matches will be included
in the pay-per-view and the subscription package.
The Servecast service to the engage Super League
website includes the entire design, building and
set up of the complete subscription and delivery
platform for the service. Servecast Digital Rights
Management will also be applied to all archive
content and will ensure end users can securely
download video clips.
Servecast are also managing the billing and security
for the site including set up of an online payment
interface, a tailored revenue tracking system
and a subscriber database.
As part of the service, Servecast will also provide
regular reporting at the end of each month including
content usage, user analysis, geographic location,
sales and revenue related to the pay-per-view
and subscription sales.
