The pre-sales consultant is responsible for assisting
the sales team to drive revenue by helping to
qualify accounts, answer RFP/RFI's, preparing
and delivering solution based product presentations,
and delivering proof of concepts which meet customer
business requirements. The Sales Consultant is
responsible for working with the suite of company
solutions and is responsible for handling any
technical question or issue which arises during
a sales cycle and setting appropriate customer
expectations. Another aspect of the Sales Consultant
position is working with Technical Support to
resolve customer issues and the Professional Services
Organization to handover the account to ensure
deliverables for implementation.
Further to presales which is the principle requirement
for this position, the role will initially have
a broader remit including product marketing responsibilities
such as assistance in marketing strategy and product
road-map, pricing, competitive analysis etc.
This position is considered strategic to Servecast
and the candidate should have the opportunity
for advancement into a management role in pre-sales
or product marketing. Consequently a competitive
package will be offer to the successful candidate.
The pre-sales consultant is expected to have
a BSc degree in Business or Computer Science and/or
6 or more years of overall pre sales experience
in an international context.
Technical Skills
Some of the required technical skills and abilities
include a working knowledge of:
- Streaming Media and Multi-media technology
and applications.
- Mobile technologies including 3G.
- OLAP like ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
- Networking technology and infrastructure,
both enterprise and Internet.
Some other technical expertise would be helpful
as for example:
- Web development environments (HTML, ASP, VB
Script, JSP, Java Script and J2EE).
- Other development environments (Visual Basic,
C or C++).
Expectations of a
Sales Consultant
Technical:
- Is able to describe the solutions and how
they interact with 3rd party technologies.
- Has the ability to handle most customer meetings
without the assistance of other staff.
- Can participate in deep technical meetings
with customers.
- Has the ability to assess a customer's business
problem and recommend appropriate solutions.
- When complex problems requiring out-of-the-box
thinking arise, can document a solution and
articulate the business value to a customer.
- Continuously updating technical knowledge
and learning new products and feature sets.
Sales:
- Must be resourceful, self-motivated, customer
focused, and able to work in a team.
- Possesses good presentation skills.
- Is able to help qualifying a sales opportunity.
- Is able to talk with different audiences,
appropriately adjust technical content to meet
different audience knowledge and interest, and
can juggle meetings with multiple audience levels.
- Is able to handle customer objections by determining
the real business problem, articulating our
ability to solve their problems, and finding
creative solutions rather than answering "no".
- Possesses an understanding of sales methodologies
and can apply them in a sales situation.
- Be able to position our products against the
competition. Proactively engages in the sales
cycles.
Interpersonal:
- Has a basic knowledge of multi-media and streaming
media requirements for any organization, but
may not have knowledge of specific pains commonly
experience within different business verticals,
including corporate and sports and media companies.
- The ability to persuade or influence others
to accept a point of view, to adopt a specific
agenda or to take a course of action. Ability
and willingness to travel on a regional basis.
- Highly valued interpersonal skills include
the ability to be rational, objective and unbiased
when making decisions or taking action.
- Being open, flexible and creative with regards
to time management and scheduling challenges.
- European languages and/or extensive experience
working in multiple European geographies.
